She has been a museum at Pearl Harbor since January 29, 1999, and the official line is that the Arizona and the Missouri are the "bookends" of the war. Here is how to plan your visit.

It is the place on the Missouri where Japan's formal surrender was signed on September 2, 1945, in Tokyo Bay, with General MacArthur accepting.
That ceremony ended World War II. It is why the Missouri sits near the Arizona today: one ship marks the start of America's war, the other its end. Standing there after the Arizona Memorial is what makes doing both on the same day so powerful.
What does the 35-minute guided tour cover?
A guide introduces the ship and her history on board, and then you are free to explore the open decks on your own.
The Missouri was launched on January 29, 1944, commissioned on June 11, 1944, and finally decommissioned on March 31, 1992. She arrived at Pearl Harbor on June 21, 1998. Take your time on the main deck after the tour: the scale of the 16-inch guns is hard to picture until you stand under them.
Are the Captain's or Chief Engineer's tours worth it?
They are worth it if you have extra time and a real interest in the ship: each adds $32 to admission and is for ages 10 and up.
The Captain's Tour runs 45 minutes and the Chief Engineer's Tour 60 minutes. On a day that also includes the Arizona, either one adds noticeably to your time on Ford Island, so check the last shuttle back before you book one.

Only by the free shuttle from the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center: Ford Island is an active Navy base.
Shuttles run about every 15 minutes, from 8:00 AM to 4:05 PM for the Missouri. Allow about 30 minutes each way, including the wait. Bring government photo ID; international visitors should bring a passport.
How long do you need at the Missouri?
Allow 1.5 to 2 hours on board, plus the shuttle both ways.
The ship is open daily from 8 AM to 4 PM, and closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. If you get hungry, Slider's Grill on board sells food, and there is shave ice.
